45" Wool Wadding

Wadding Roll Cream

Wool wadding, or batting for our American friends, is very lightweight and is used for its warmth.  Wool wadding is a natural and lofty option.  It is resistant to creases because it holds its shape and it springs back after being rolled up.  It is excellent for hand and machine quilting, and can also be tied.

  • Scoured New Zealand 100% wool wadding with scrim - scrim is a term used to describe the light layer or grid of woven fibres added to some battings. It acts as a stabilizer and helps to hold them together while quilting.
  • 45" (114cms) wide, compressed wadding.
  • Incredibly warm & cosy.
  • Hand-wash & dry naturally.
  • After quilting, handle as you would any fine wool product - use a gentle detergent and wash with cool water; dry by laying flat.
  • With care, your quilt will bring loving memories for generations to come.

To work out how much wadding / batting you need we recommend adding 6" to the final measurements of your patchwork quilt - for example, if your quilt measures 36" x 38", we recommend your wadding piece should measure at least 42" x 44" - those extra few inches will allow you to put the layers together more easily and for any shrinkage during the quilting process. It is always better to have too much than too little wadding!

Quilters Quest wadding is sold in multiples of ¼ metres (25 centimetres; 10"). Please use the table below as a guide for ordering. Example: if you would like 1½ metres simply enter '6' in the quantity box (6 x ¼m = 1½m), this means you would receive a piece of wadding measuring 45" x 60".
