Thicken & stiffen
An interfacing is a material inserted, either by sewing or ironing-on, between fabric layers to thicken or stiffen the finished project. Quilters Quest stock the following interfacings:
Fast 2 Fuse 20” wide: a double-sided, fusible interfacing that saves time & gives flexible, firm support to craft projects including: fabric bowls and boxes; tote bags, place mats etc. It has the added advantage of being washable in temperatures up to 95C, or it can be dry-cleaned.
Timtex 20” wide: the original interfacing; a very thick interfacing that is often used for bags and bowls etc as it helps them keep their shape.
Vilene Heavy Sew-In 36” wide: Heavy handle sew-in interfacing, appropriate for use with a broad range of heavy-weight fabrics. It is suitable for sewing by hand or by machine & for machine washing or dry cleaning. 100% polyester.
Vilene Medium Sew-In 36” wide: Soft medium-weight interfacing suitable for light to middle-weight fabrics. This product provides a strong yet flexible feel and is easy to sew with by hand or machine. Machine wash or dry clean.
Vilene Light Sew-In 36” wide: Very soft and easy interfacing suitable for light/delicate fabrics.
Vilene Firm Iron-On 36” wide: This has a smooth, fabric look, retains it's shape and is easy to iron-on. It is a firm pelmet interfacing for all widths and forms of pelmet. Also very suitable for bands, belts, bags, and creative handicrafts. It has the benefit of being flexible but firm.
Machine wash or dry clean.
Vilene Easy Fuse Light Iron-On 36” wide: Easy fuse, ultra-soft, lightweight, iron-on, suitable for use with light weight fabrics and specially blended for modern fabrics. Machine wash or dry-clean.
